Footprint Ghosts

Make these adorable footprint ghosts with your kiddos this Halloween! You can even cut them out and make some awesome garland for a Halloween party decoration. Kids get a kick out of them when they’re finished!

Black paper
White paint
Black sharpie
White crayon

Start by painting your child’s foot with white washable paint and have them step on a black piece of card stock paper. I use card stock because it’s more durable and won’t wrinkle when it dries! After that take a white crayon and have them trace around the footprint making a ghost figure.

Once the white paint is completely dry, have them take a black sharpie and draw a scary ghost face! Too cute!

Movie of the Month

The movie of the month this month is Disney’s very own Toy Story of Terror

The kids will absolutely love this one because the toys go on a road trip, when an unexpected event leads them to a roadside motel, after one of the toys goes missing, the others find themselves caught up in a mysterious, monstrous, and terrifying sequence of events that must be solved before they all suffer the same fate!

We highly recommend this one so let us know what you think too on our Facebook page

Time for a relax with a DIY hair mask

In many cultures, rich, lustrous hair is regarded as a sign of fertility, strength and overall good health. Discover four DIY moisturizing masks for each hair type that you can easily make in minutes using all-natural ingredients you probably have sitting in your kitchen right now!

Skip the unnecessary expense plus the toxins and chemicals found in commercial hair products and look to your kitchen for the BEST natural conditioners to moisturize and revitalize your hair!

1. All Hair Types: Avocado and Honey

Cut and scoop out the flesh from a ripened avocado and mix in a tablespoon of organic honey. Apply to hair and allow it to sit for 20 minutes before rinsing it off in the shower.

Avocados are rich in a variety of vitamins and nutrients, including vitamin E and protein, both of which your hair needs to remain soft and healthy. Meanwhile, honey is a natural antibacterial agent.

2. Dry Hair: Olive Oil and Egg

In need of some major TLC?  Combine three tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil with two eggs and apply the mixture to your hair and let the mixture sit for 20 minutes before rinsing in the shower.

The olive oil will help hydrate brittle locks, while the protein in the eggs will promote healthy hair growth.

3. Oily Hair: Apple Cider Vinegar and Lemon

Combine 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar with the grated peel of an entire lemon and allow it to set for 15 minutes to absorb the excess oil from your scalp, and then rinse in the shower.

Apple cider vinegar will remove build up from styling products and conditioners and strengthen the hair shaft, leaving you with soft, shiny strands. It will also balance hair’s pH level, kill bacteria, and is a cure for dandruff.

4. Dry, Flaky Scalp and Hair: Banana, Honey and Almond

Mash together 1/2 a ripe banana and add two tablespoons of honey and a few drops of almond oil and allow it to set with a shower cap on for 20 minutes before rinsing.

Bananas can increase the moisture of your hair, smooth frizz and soothe your itchy scalp.

Choose a mask that suits your hair condition and bring your hair back to life!

Super Easy Halloween Candy Corn Fudge!!

2 tablespoons butter
3 cups miniature marshmallows
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup powdered sugar
20 ounces candy corn ( about 2 1/2 cups)
2 cups roasted peanuts
Halloween candy sprinkles (optional) or extra candy corn (optional)

1.Butter a 9×9 brownie pan (I use a silicone pan but still butter it) and set it aside.

2.In a deep skillet over low heat, melt butter and marshmallows, stirring constantly, until marshmallows melt.

3.Add peanut butter and stir until mixed in and melted. Then add powdered sugar, stirring until smooth. Don’t add candy and nuts until these are mixed and smooth.

4.Fold in candy corn and peanuts, stirring until nicely mixed. Some of the candy may start to melt, and that’s fine. The candy corn really don’t need to melt so don’t worry about that.

5.Pour mixture into the buttered brownie pan, and using a buttered pancake turner, flatten mixture completely.

6.If you like, sprinkle with extra candy corn or Halloween “cupcake sprinkles”, pressing them down with a sheet of waxed paper to keep your hands clean. Be careful not to burn yourself!

7.Allow mixture to cool, then cut into small squares (you can put them into small cupcake papers and keep them in a cookie tin if you want.

Best Play Dough for the kids

Play Dough!!

The secret to brilliant colors in your play dough is using gel food coloring – we find ours in the cake decorating sections of craft/hobby stores, or on the baking aisle in the grocery store. Gel food coloring is definitely the best dye for homemade play dough.

How To Make The Best Play dough

Pour 2 cups of flour into a bowl.
Add 1/2 cup of salt.
Mix in 2 tbsp Cream of Tartar. (You can find this in the spice section of just about any grocery store.)
Add 2 tbsp of oil. For this recipe I used vegetable oil, but you can use any oil, and as long as it’s a kitchen oil, your playdough will be non-toxic and safe if a little one takes a tiny taste. The sodium level is very high, so we don’t encourage this to double as a snack.

Pour in the boiling water. Be VERY careful because this makes the dough HOT!
Mix all the ingredients together until they form the dough. At this point, if you don’t want to add any food dye to your playdough, you’re finished!

After it’s cooled, to make several different colors of playdough, separate the dough into equal parts and roll it up into balls.
Now, punch out the middle of the ball to leave a little bowl for you to pour your gel food dye into.

Drip your gel dye into the bowls. This is a great time to mix dye colors if you want to make another color.
Knead the dough until the dye is thoroughly mixed. This is VERY messy! If you don’t want to stain your hands, use gloves, and make sure to put something down so you don’t stain your counter (like I did).
